Welcome to HART!

Our Mission
To provide refuge, comfort, and medical attention to cats that have been surrendered, abandoned, injured, or abused – and to find permanent loving homes to adopt them.

HART is an all-volunteer organization that provides a safe refuge to hundreds of homeless cats each year. We rely on the support of individual donors to help us rescue and provide shelter for these innocent animals.

As a no-kill shelter with limited space, we must carefully balance how many cats we can accept while at the same time providing the best environment for the cats that are already in our care. We maintain an average population of about 110 cats at the shelter and have a number of cats who stay with us for months or years. We also rely on local foster homes to care for some of our cats - hundreds of kittens every year as well as a small number of senior and special needs adults.

Featured Cat - Jasmine

In honor of Black Cat Awareness Month in October, we are featuring Jasmine!  She is a wonderful kitty who is a member of our Room One Program.  She has been at HART since July of 2011 and after working with our Room One volunteers, is ready to find her forever home.  To learn more about Jasmine, see her bio here.

Volunteer With Us

HART volunteers are an incredible group of people who are enthusiastic about cats and dedicated to their care. We are always looking for more people to join our team. Opportunities exist in a wide variety of programs both inside and outside the shelter.
